PEOPLE in County Durham and Darlington are reminded of the free courier service which provides details of what is happening in their neighborhood.

Keep in the Know email alert system allows registrants to receive weekly blogs from their local neighborhood teams, witness calls, crime prevention tips, details on scams they may have need to be informed, community initiatives and video surveillance mapping.

Residents can select what information they want to receive, which means they can stay on top of what’s going on in their neighborhood.

It also allows you to provide comments and send messages.

Temporary Chief Neighborhood Inspector Andy Reeves, of Durham Constabulary, said: “Keeping our residents up to date and informed about what is happening in their area is vital. ”

“Whether we’re looking for witnesses or wanting to make people aware of a scam going around, this system allows us to do it almost instantly.

“Keep in the Know allows people to receive relevant news that is important to them and not something that is happening elsewhere in the county that may not be of interest to them.

“We have had excellent feedback on the service from those who have signed up and we encourage others to join.

“Social media is a great way to share information, but Keep in the Know allows us to deliver the most relevant information to a specific audience with the push of a button. ”

Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Joy Allen said, “Keep In The Know is a fantastic system for keeping up to date with what’s going on in your neighborhood. Residents of Durham and Darlington Counties can receive regular updates on the news most relevant to them.

“I encourage anyone who has not already done so to register and stay informed about local police services, community initiatives and witness calls for your area. There is even an option to record your home CCTV system including doorbell cameras that can help police respond to missing persons and investigate crimes.
