For those members of the Employee Welfare Organization (EPFO) who have been waiting for a long time for their claims to be settled, EPFO ââhas made a big announcement for them. The Finance Ministry said via Twitter that “EPFO offices settled a total of 1.02 crore in claims, paying Rs. 35,500 crore to PF members from 04/01/2021 to 07/31/2021. ” Claims which include final PF settlement, pension fund settlement, pension claims, FP claims made by proxy, EDLI insurance benefit claim, PF advance claim, claim transfer fees and so on were settled by the EPFO ââoffices on September 15, 2021.
As a result, EPF members can check their PF balance online and offline. In online mode they can check their account balance through UMANG app and e-Sewa portal and in offline mode they can perform the same task through missed calls and SMS. Therefore, below are 4 ways to check your PF balance from the comfort of your home.

By following the steps and means listed below, you can check your PF balance without having to physically go to the nearest EPFO ââoffice.
Via the UMANG application
With the UMANG app, you can make a complaint, view and download a booklet, track the status of the complaint and much more. To check the balance, you need to make sure your UAN is linked to your bank account number, Aadhaar number or PAN. EPF members must open the UMANG application and search for EPFO. After redirecting to EPFO ââpage, they need to press âView Passbookâ and enter required credentials such as UAN and OTP number which they will get on their registered cell phone number. After successful authentication, their passbook details will be displayed on the mobile screen.
Via the e-Sewa portal
- To check your EPF balance through the e-Sewa portal, follow the steps outlined below keeping your UAN and mobile phone number handy.
- Visit www.epfindia.gov.in and click on âFor Employeesâ in the âOur Servicesâ section.
- Now click on “Member Passbook” in the “Services” section.
- You will now be redirected to the page https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp where you can access your PF passbook.
By text message
To check your balance and your EPF statement by SMS, your UAN must be registered with EPFO ââand must be active. To check your balance type EPFOHO UAN FR and send it to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number. Here ‘ENG’ is English which is the preferred language which you can change. If your preferred language is Hindi, the last three characters will be HIN.
By missed call
Members who have registered on the UAN portal can receive their EPFO ââcontact details by giving a missed call to 011-22901406 from their registered mobile number. If the member’s UAN is linked to any of their bank account numbers, AADHAAR or PAN number, the member will get details of their most recent contribution and PF balance. Make a missed call from your registered mobile number at 01122901406. After two rings, the phone is automatically disconnected and EPFO ââwill provide you with details of your PF balance and your account.
